Know the Latest Car Seat Types
There are many kinds of car seats readily available. These include the convertible seat, forward facing only seat, overhead shield car seat, rear facing infant seat, booster seats, and the backless booster seats. Each of these types has different purposes. The forward facing only seat, for example, is ideally applied for infants who weigh 20 to 40 lbs (9.1 to 18.2 kilograms). However, new models of this kind are applied for infants who weigh 60 lbs or less. Its harness chest clip is placed at the child's armpit level. This kind of car seat is best applied in the car's rear because this section utilizes the seatbelt or latch system. The forward facing only seat can also be mounted in the car's front section only if the vehicle does not have any back seat attached to it. If this is the case, the car's passenger air bag should be turned off.
The overhead shield car seat on the other hand has a horizontal bar or tray which is used to hold the baby. It is a large car seat with a filled bar that rests down over the infant's head. Its shoulder straps are placed between the car seat's tray and the car seat's back portion. Also, the tray's buckle is connected to car seat linking the infant's legs. The overhead shield car is one of the most attractive car seats ever assembled because of its horizontal bar design. However, this kind of car seat does not protect the baby well because of its outline. In fact, the horizontal bar or the tray can cause harm to the baby because it does not have enough padding. This design can not protect the baby against head injuries. Another setback of the overhead shield car seat is the way it buckles down a baby between its legs. It can't also be easily adjusted because it only buckles in a single position.
